How to Choose An Online Fitness Coach?
Choosing an online fitness coach that checks all of your boxes can be a daunting task. Some people need a drill sergeant – someone who is going to take them to task for falling off their nutrition plan or skipping a workout. Others need someone with a little more compassion, who will gently guide them in the right direction with a kind and caring hand. There is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to choosing the right online fitness coach that meets your needs, so do some digging. Ask a friend if they have used a coach that worked for them. Check the social media and Google reviews of the coach that you’re interested in working with. Many coaches, such as myself, will offer a free consultation in order for you and the coach to feel each other out and if they do – you should take them up on it. It’s a great way to see if a coach is a right fit for you. But why use an online coach in the first place?
What online fitness coaches offer? Are online trainers worth it?
According to Scientific American Magazine, 80% of people who lose a significant amount of weight end up gaining it back within twelve months. Those are not great odds for success. A coach can help you make substantial, long-term lifestyle changes that result in you not only losing weight, but keeping it off for good because you have learned how to form healthy, new habits that stick with you for life instead of a quick fix that is short term and not substantial.
Online fitness coaching has been a great way for people to get in shape and lose weight. For my clients, accountability is key and having someone on your side to help you through the process of losing weight or gaining strength has been invaluable especially at a time when the world has been turned upside. Online fitness coaches can be help you make a transformative change to your eating habits and workouts. My process is very hands on. I program meal plans and work outs that are catered to each individuals’ tastes, abilities and goals. This is key when you are searching for the right coach. You need to find someone who is willing to do the work for you and personalize nutrition and fitness programs specifically for you. If you are unable to complete a certain workout due to physical limitations or forced to eat food you do not like or are allergic to, it’s going to be difficult if not impossible for you to succeed. As far as I’m concerned, when you are looking for an online fitness coach, you simply must see if the coach is willing to cater your program specifically to your preferences and physical abilities.
Pricing for online fitness and nutrition coaching programs can vary. I like to keep prices manageable because I believe this type of knowledge should be accessible to everyone. However, if it’s not in your budget right now, ask a coach if they can work out a pricing plan to fit your needs. Most coaches will work with you because they genuinely want to help (that’s why most people get into this business.) However, if something seems outrageously expensive and too good to be true, it most likely is. Anyone claiming they can help you lose a ridiculous amount of weight in a very small window of time is usually blowing smoke. As with everything else in life, make sure that the promises that are being made are realistic and within your budget. You do not have to go broke in order to succeed in your nutrition and fitness goals.
